Trump's sensational last-minute plan to save TikTok from nationwide ban revealed

Trump's sensational last-minute plan to save TikTok from nationwide ban revealed:

President-elect Donald Trump is considering the issuance of an executive order that would delay the enforcement of the TikTok ban set to take effect on Sunday. According to two anonymous sources familiar with the discussions, this action would prevent U.S. officials from implementing the law for a period of 60 to 90 days, as reported by the Washington Post. Trump's inauguration is scheduled for this Monday, just one day after the anticipated nationwide ban is expected to be formalized.

Sunday marks the deadline for TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, to divest its U.S. assets or face removal from U.S. app stores due to concerns regarding the app's connections to the Chinese government. While Americans would still be able to use the app under the ban, new downloads would be prohibited, and the app's functionality would gradually decline due to a lack of updates. This is not the first instance in which Trump has indicated his desire to reverse the ban, which was enacted into law by President Joe Biden last April.

The legislation mandates that ByteDance must sell its U.S. assets by January 19, 2025, or face a nationwide prohibition. The Supreme Court reviewed TikTok's appeal against the ban last week but is expected to allow the law to take effect as scheduled on Sunday. Trump has consistently communicated to his over 14 million TikTok followers his intention to "save" the app upon assuming office. However, experts have suggested that an executive order may not be a viable solution to effectively reverse the situation.
