Srinivasa Reddy Kandi: YouTube Music Experiments with AI Hosts

YouTube Music Experiments with AI Hosts

YouTube Music is testing AI-powered hosts that add context to your listening experience with trivia, stories, and commentary about the tracks and artists you’re playing, the company announced Friday.

The feature follows Spotify’s launch of its own AI DJ two years ago, which combines music curation with AI-driven voiceovers. YouTube Music has been steadily expanding its AI experiments as well — in July, it introduced an AI conversational radio that lets users build custom stations by describing what they want to hear.

These new AI hosts are part of YouTube Labs, a recently launched hub for the platform’s AI experiments. Similar to Google Labs, YouTube Labs lets users try early-stage AI features and share feedback.

Participation doesn’t require a Premium subscription, but access is limited for now to a small group of U.S.-based users. The move adds to YouTube’s broader push to weave AI features into the platform.
