Srinivasa Reddy Kandi: ProducerAI Music Generator Becomes Part of Google Labs

ProducerAI Music Generator Becomes Part of Google Labs:

The generative AI music platform ProducerAI is joining Google Labs, according to an announcement released Tuesday.
Supported by electronic music duo The Chainsmokers, ProducerAI enables users to create music through simple natural-language prompts, such as requesting a “lofi beat.” The tool is powered by Lyria 3, a music-generation model from Google DeepMind that can convert both text and image inputs into audio compositions.

Google recently revealed plans to integrate Lyria 3 capabilities into its flagship Gemini application. With ProducerAI, however, users can interact with the technology in a more collaborative manner, positioning the AI as a creative partner rather than simply a tool, according to Elias Roman, senior director of Product Management at Google Labs.

Roman highlighted the platform’s creative potential, noting that ProducerAI has enabled him to explore genre fusion, craft personalized birthday songs, and produce custom workout soundtracks for himself and friends.

Google also revealed that three-time Grammy Award–winning rapper Wyclef Jean incorporated the Lyria 3 model alongside Music AI Sandbox in the production of his recent track Back From Abu Dhabi.

In a video released by Google DeepMind, Jeff Chang, the company’s director of Product Management, emphasized that working with these AI tools is less about repeatedly pressing a generate button and more about thoughtful creative selection. He described the process as one of careful curation, where creators evaluate outputs and choose elements that best fit their artistic vision.

Jean shared an example from his own workflow, explaining that he wondered how a flute would complement an already recorded track. Using Google’s AI music tools, he was able to quickly experiment and add a flute layer, illustrating how the technology can accelerate creative exploration during music production.
