PayPal Not Pursuing Acquisition Despite Stripe Interest, Report Says:

PayPal may not be actively seeking an acquisition, according to a report from Semafor, which cited sources familiar with the matter.

This comes after Bloomberg reported earlier this week that Stripe had shown interest in purchasing some or all of PayPal's holdings, including its flagship PayPal service and other assets like Venmo. Stripe, however, declined to comment on the speculation.

According to Semafor, PayPal has been working with bankers in preparation for potential challenges from activist investors or a hostile takeover. These discussions reportedly involved Alex Chriss, PayPal's former CEO, before his recent departure. The company’s new CEO is expected to begin next week.
