Srinivasa Reddy Kandi: Google Gemini Adds Multi-Step Automation Features to Android

Google Gemini Adds Multi-Step Automation Features to Android:

Google has introduced a set of updates to its Gemini AI features on Android, headlined by a new capability that enables the assistant to carry out certain multi-step tasks on a user’s behalf. With this beta feature, users can ask Gemini to complete actions such as ordering a ride or arranging food delivery, allowing the AI to handle sequences of steps within supported apps.

At launch, the automation feature is limited to select applications in categories like food delivery, grocery services, and ridesharing. Availability is also restricted to the Gemini app on specific devices, including the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup. Initially, the feature will roll out only in the United States and South Korea.

In addition to automations, Google announced expanded scam detection for phone calls and enhancements to Circle to Search, which now allows users to identify multiple items displayed on their screens.

Recognizing the risks associated with AI-driven automation, Google has built in several safeguards. Tasks can only be initiated through explicit user commands, and users can monitor the automation process in real time, stopping it if necessary. The actions run within a secure, virtual environment on the device, limiting access to approved apps and preventing broader access to personal data.
