Winter Storm Enzo: Impact and Forecast

Winter Storm Enzo: Impact and Forecast

Winter Storm Enzo is set to bring hazardous weather conditions to the South tonight, particularly affecting southern Texas and Louisiana. The storm is expected to deliver a mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, with the heaviest impacts occurring near and south of Interstate 20, extending all the way to the Gulf Coast. Key metro areas including Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi, and Galveston in Texas, as well as New Orleans and Alexandria in Louisiana, will experience significant weather disruptions tonight through Tuesday.

By Tuesday, the storm is expected to strengthen, extending its reach from eastern Texas to southern Mississippi. This will include cities like Houston and New Orleans, where moderate to major impacts are likely. Dangerous travel conditions, infrastructure disruptions, and potential power outages are all possible as a result of the storm.

Snowfall and Ice Accumulation Predictions:

Snow accumulation could range from 1 to 3 inches from southeast Texas into Louisiana and southern Mississippi, with higher totals expected in localized areas. In particular, parts of southern Louisiana and southeast Texas could see up to 6 inches of snow in areas where heavier snowfall bands develop.

As Enzo moves eastward, snow and ice will spread along the Gulf Coast, reaching parts of Alabama, Georgia, the Florida Panhandle, and the Carolinas by Tuesday night. These regions can expect between 1 to 3 inches of snow.

In general, areas north of Interstate 10 will likely experience snow, while locations south of this highway should see a mix of snow and ice. Travelers in these regions should be prepared for winter weather disruptions, especially on Monday night and Tuesday.
