Srinivasa Reddy Kandi: Salesforce Investigates Customer Data Exposure Linked to Gainsight App Breach

Salesforce Investigates Customer Data Exposure Linked to Gainsight App Breach

Salesforce confirmed on Wednesday that it is investigating a security incident involving unauthorized access to “certain customers’ Salesforce data” through applications developed by Gainsight, a customer management platform provider. According to Salesforce’s advisory, the breach is tied to Gainsight-published apps that customers install and manage within their own Salesforce environments. The company stressed that there is no evidence of a vulnerability in the Salesforce platform itself, and that the issue stems from Gainsight’s external connection to Salesforce.

When asked for comment, Salesforce spokesperson Nicole Aranda directed TechCrunch to the company’s incident response page for ongoing updates.
Meanwhile, Gainsight stated on its status page that it is looking into a “Salesforce connection issue,” but did not mention a breach. The company said its internal investigation is still underway and has not yet responded to TechCrunch’s request for comment.

Gainsight lists prominent clients on its website, including Airtable, Notion, and GitLab. GitLab’s spokesperson, Emily James, told TechCrunch that the company’s security team is currently reviewing the situation and will share more information once available.
