Notion Introduces AI Agents for Data Analysis and Task Automation

At its “Make with Notion” event on Thursday, Notion unveiled its first-ever AI agent, expanding its platform beyond note-taking and productivity into more advanced automation.

What the Notion Agent Can Do:

The new agent leverages a user’s existing Notion pages and databases as context to automatically:
Generate meeting notes, competitor evaluation reports, and landing page feedback.
Create entirely new pages and databases, or update existing ones with fresh data, properties, or views.
Pull information from connected platforms like Slack, email, and Google Drive to assemble dashboards—for example, a bug-tracking system built across multiple inputs.
Unlike Notion AI, which primarily focused on summarization and search, the new agent can handle complex, multistep workflows. According to the company, the current version can run processes lasting up to 20 minutes across hundreds of pages.

Personalization and Memory:

Users can create a dedicated profile page for their agent, defining preferences such as:
How sources should be cited.
Style and format of outputs.
Where tasks and results should be stored.
The agent can also “remember” key points during use, storing them on the profile page for future reference—memories that can be reviewed and edited at any time.

Example Use Cases:

In demo sessions, Notion showcased agents that could:
Provide feedback and update landing pages.
Build a restaurant tracker.
Compile analysis from meeting notes.
Generate a competitor research report.

Currently, these actions must be triggered manually, but Notion says automated scheduling and trigger-based agents are in development. The company also plans to release a template library of prebuilt agent workflows to help users get started quickly.

Building on Notion’s Expanding Ecosystem:

Over the last two years, Notion has been steadily broadening its product lineup—launching a calendar app, Gmail client, meeting note-taker, and enterprise search. These tools now serve as building blocks for deeper automation.

With the rise of agentic AI, Notion joins a wave of enterprise productivity platforms—such as Salesforce, Fireflies, and Read AI—that are embedding intelligent agents to analyze, update, and act on workplace data.
