Srinivasa Reddy Kandi: Bezos Steps Back into Operations to Lead New AI Startup Project Prometheus

Bezos Steps Back into Operations to Lead New AI Startup Project Prometheus:

Jeff Bezos is reportedly stepping back into an operational role as co-CEO of a new AI startup called Project Prometheus, which has already secured $6.2 billion in funding, according to The New York Times. The Amazon founder, who stepped away from day-to-day leadership in 2021, is both backing the venture and taking a hands-on position within it.
Bezos will lead the company alongside Vik Bajaj, a prominent figure in the life sciences and AI space. Bajaj previously co-founded and led Google’s life sciences division, helped launch Alphabet’s biotech subsidiary Verily, and co-founded Foresite Labs. He reportedly departed Foresite to help launch Project Prometheus.

Project Prometheus aims to develop AI technologies for the physical economy, focusing on engineering and manufacturing sectors such as aerospace, automotive, and computing. Its ambitions appear similar to those of Periodic Labs, a company that accelerates scientific discovery by simulating the physical world to train AI models.
The startup is already staffed with nearly 100 employees, including top researchers from companies like Meta, OpenAI, and Google DeepMind, signaling its intention to become a major player in next-generation AI development.
